Caterham-on-the-Hill is wellknown locally for its large number of 'specialist' shops which now includes 'Simply Coarse Angling' in Chaldon Road by the Raglan Precinct.

The shop is owned by Wayne Gainsborough and his wife Lisa.

Wayne said: "My main passion is fishing for carp and catfish.

There is no better feeling than when you get that target fish you have been after! It has long been my dream to open my own angling shop."

Simply Coarse Angling has an impressive array of all the top angling brands such as Fox, Nash, Korda, Shimano, Diawa, the Pure Fishing range, Trakker, Preston and Gardner and live and frozen baits. The spacious shop also stocks luggage, clothing, boots and fishing furniture such as bed-chairs, bivvies and shelters.

It caters for beginners as well as experienced fishermen and there is always someone available to offer friendly advice.

Wayne said: "We cater for all types of fishing - carp, coarse, sea, match, predator and specimen. Our new e-commerce website will also include fly-fishing, the one thing we do not have in store."

Lisa said: "We are delighted that the shop has been very popular with the local kids. There are loads of youngsters around here who love fishing, so we are hoping to start kids' fishing competitions in the summer."

The shop opens early and closes late so that customers can pop in before or after going fishing.
