A delightful place to visit this spring is 'The Green Rooms' in Godstone. Situated opposite Godstone Green, the owners Sylvia and Jeremy welcome customers to their 'tea rooms with attitude (good attitude!)' as Sylvia puts it! The spacious tea rooms decorated in pretty pastel shades, with quirky accessories, is the perfect setting for their wonderful home-cooked food that ranges from traditional breakfasts to sumptuous cream teas. Sylvia said: "We serve traditional fried breakfasts all day or you can have a three course meal in the morning if that is what you want. We always work using top produce and cook as we would cook for ourselves at home." Sylvia, a baker's daughter, and Jeremy helped Sylvia's father run his bakers in Wandsworth for ten years before he retired, then set up their own business in Godstone. Sylvia said: "We came to Godstone for the first time when we saw this business for sale and we thought it was genuinely one of the nicest places. I think the local community appreciate what we are creating here for them." As well as serving popular savoury dishes such as fried breakfasts, paninis, lasagne and salmon fishcakes customers can indulge in a very decadent afternoon tea with Eyelash Curling Lemon Drizzle Slices, cupcakes, cookies and Sylvia's famous 'Whoopie Pies'. The Green Rooms is open seven days a week from 8.30am until 5pm or when the last customer goes home. Sylvia and Jeremy have lots of plans including barbecues in the summer, 'Gentlemen's teas' and 'Mad Hatter Tea Parties' for children. They are also starting the 'Sociable Supper Club' just after Easter. "Just give us a go!" says Sylvia.
