Amongst the great diversity of places to dine at in Caterham Valley is a little gem of a restaurant called The Comodor at 66 Croydon Road. The menu features a great choice of Mediterranean food, specialising in numerous pasta and pizza dishes ranging in price from just £4.95 to £6.75 (with £2 off the pasta prices for a starter portion). The are no less than 16 starters to choose from, and they can all be upgraded to a main course portion for an extra £2. The restaurant also serves Specialities including Grilled Fillet Steak with a creamy mushroom sauce with fries for £12.50 and Pan Fried Salmon fillet with a white wine and lemon sauce and rice for £11.50. When my daughter Jenny and I went there for a meal just before Christmas, Jenny chose the Dough Balls with ham, pepperoni and Mozzarella cheese for her starter while I had the Chorizo in a spicy tomato sauce. Jenny said the generous portion of Dough Balls was: "So good!" and my Chorizo was deliciously spicy and warming, perfect for a cold winter's night. As the restaurant specialises in pasta and pizza, Jenny chose the 'All the Meats' pizza with tomato, Mozzarella, chicken, bacon, spicy beef and pepperoni, that had so much meat she struggled to finish it, but she did! I had the Penne Funghie Proscuitto - pasta with strips of steak, mushroom and onion in a cream sauce, which was also lovely and filling. The Comodor sells takeaway pizza and pasta for just £5 each so we will soon be back for more! In addition to a good selection of wines and beers, the restaurant also features a list of interesting-sounding cocktails at £4.50 each - the perfect finishing touch for a celebration. The Comodor is well-known locally for its popular Traditional Sunday Roasts at just £5.95 - but be sure to book to avoid disappointment. |
