A visit to Bollywood Indian Restaurant in Caterham recently proved to be an excellent way to end a cold week. The restaurant offers a warm welcome and relaxing atmosphere in a comfortably spacious setting. Bollywood has easy access for wheelchair users and a large dining area upstairs that is also available for private functions. The staff are extremely attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and make every effort to help diners select dishes to suit their individual taste. Mr Miah the owner, recommended starters of Sula Salmon, charcoal roasted salmon cooked with peppers and onion - very tasty; Adraki Lamb Chop, marinated in ginger, open charcoal roasted and full of flavour, and Chicken 65, a popular starter of diced chicken with curry leaves and green chilli that is exactly as described - chilli hot! The main course was a selection of sample dishes off the main menu: Murgh Sagrana, cooked with cream and spices; Hara Murgh, chicken marinated with garlic, ginger and chilli paste with specially made herb sauce; Dum Pukht Gosht, subtly flavoured lamb with saffron and brown onions; Kadi Gosht, a medium hot lamb stew with whole coriander seed and bulb chilli and Prawn Saag cooked with spinach. The flavours of all the curries were absolutely delicious with the extremely moist and tender lamb being a speciality of the restaurant. As side-dishes we had Spicy Brocolli with onions and spices; Tarka Dall, pink lentils with garlic; Special Fried Rice and Plain Naan to soak up all the lovely sauces. To accompany our meal the house red Merlot together with the speciality Indian Cobra beer were recommended which perfectly complemented the meal.
