Pupils at Warlingham Park School held a sponsored read recently to raise money for The AADC Research Trust. The Trust was founded in 2006 by Warlingham residents Tony and Lisa Flint whose 13 year-old son Jake is a sufferer of this rare genetic brain disorder. The PTA helped to organise the sponsored read to raise funds to illustrate the charity's new storybook entitled: 'Jake, Teddy Blue, Raffi and the Bumble Bee and the Mystical Yellow Flowers' which explains the disease in a child-friendly way. The week long event held in May enabled children from Nursery to the top of the Junior School to indulge in a wide range of reading, raising money for this local charity and its equally renowned 'eBear's Attic' charity shop at 624 Limpsfield Road in Warlingham. The school also encouraged the children to read more by supporting a 'buddy reading' session where the older children brought in their favourite books to share with the younger children. The week ended with a special assembly when the winners were presented with prize 'eBear' teddies. Head Teacher Mike Donald said: "It is a delight to see our older children interact with the younger ones for such a worthy cause. Faces, both young and old, lit up when eBear joined our assembly!"
