Tuesday 23rd April saw the launch of the new Caterham Community Choir set up by Tandridge Trust. Arts Partnership Surrey funded the setting up of the choir together with Tandridge Community Partnership, supported by Councillor John Orrick, Caterham Hill Parish Council and Tandridge Trust itself. Space for this term's singing has generously been donated by de Stafford School. Over 50 people attended each of the free taster sessions held in April to help launch the choir. Culture Activities Manager at Tandridge Trust, Lisa Phillips, said: "We have been pleased and delighted to see the local community's response to this new choir and hope that it will go from strength to strength, ultimately becoming a stand alone community group, run by its members." The choir is operated in the style of the Natural Voice Practitioners Network. Singing leader Catherine Pestano said: "It is a style which is great for building community with inclusion of those who are just starting on their singing journey and need confidence. It also appeals to the more transcendent aspects of the human spirit!" Catherine teaches a variety of world harmony acappella songs, plus folk, gospel, jazz and blues. New members will continue to be welcomed to the Caterham Community Choir which meets on Tuesday evenings between 7pm and 9pm at de Stafford School, Burntwood Lane, Caterham, during termtime. The weekly cost is £4 for adults and £2 for children and young people aged under 18 years. For more information contact This email address is being protected from spambots.
