The Mayor of Croydon, Cllr. Yvette Hopley with Headmaster, Mr Mike Donald and pupils of Warlingham Park School in the school’s newly-opened ICT Suite. On Friday 14th March Warlingham Park School was delighted to welcome The Mayor of Croydon, Councillor Yvette Hopley, to open their new ICT Suite. The Mayor is a Trustee and Governor of the independent primary school that is in the borough of Tandridge and borders the borough of Croydon. She was joined by pupils, staff, trustees, local councillors, Reverend Blunden from All Saints Church in Warlingham, Joe Dowbiggin, Managing Director of Acuity Unified Communications and members of the Parents’ Association. The event was organised to celebrate the culmination of an investment project that has transformed the school’s IT infrastructure and IT provision. The brand new data network enables data to travel around the whole building at an incredible speed (1Gbps). Each pupil benefits from their own login and private directory, allowing class work to be stored in a structured format for the duration of their time at the school. The award-winning school choir greeted the Mayor on arrival with a chorale rendition of “Computer Crazy” before the Headmaster, Mr Donald, escorted the Mayor into the new ICT Suite. ICT teacher, Mrs Gravett, and some of the pupils proudly demonstrated the new all-inone PCs so that the Mayor could see for herself how they are transforming the school’s ICT curriculum. In his speech, Mr Donald said: "The fruits of this project are the result of a remarkable joint effort and we are very grateful for the tireless efforts of both Acuity Unified Communications and our Parents' Association. We have now widened the future opportunities of every pupil in the school." Rev. Blunden then blessed the ICT Suite before it was formally opened by the Mayor. In her speech the Mayor said: “Providing outstanding IT provision for the next generation of learners is so important. I feel confident that the school’s IT infrastructure and ICT Suite will be instrumental in helping Warlingham Park School support this very important goal.” |
