On Thursday 8th May, the pupils of Hillcroft School in Caterham-on-the-Hill enjoyed a day to remember as they celebrated the school's conversion to academy status by joining the Glyn Learning Foundation ('GLF'). The Executive Headteacher of GLF, Jon Chaloner, along with eight other members of the GLF executive team were special guests at morning assembly which was also attended by the school's Chair of Governors, Cllr. Chris Botten. During the assembly Mr Chaloner was introduced to the pupils, who spoke to them enthusiastically about his passion for teaching and his aspirations for the future of Hillcroft as a GLF school. Following Mr Chaloner and Cllr. Botten's speeches, the head boy, Charlie Moye and head girl Shaula Peinke cut the special celebratory cake in front of the assembled children and staff. Headteacher, Stephanie Scutter said: “This is a very special day for the school and the children in particular, and we have lots planned for them. The day will be packed with enrichment activities, including visits from musicians and authors and there will be a sense of celebration all day.” For more information about Glyn Learning Foundation schools and what makes them distinctive, visit www.glfschools.org |
