Coulsdon College students excel on results day Coulsdon College is celebrating its fourth year with a 99% pass rate at A Level and 100% at BTEC. Head of College Steve Gooch is delighted with the results commenting, “The hard work of both students and staff has shone through yet again with these results.” He went on, “The students’ excellent results show that those who join us enjoy their time and work hard to ensure they reach their full potential. I want to wish all our graduating students well and I’m especially pleased at the growing numbers heading off to excellent universities and higher apprenticeships.” Especially pleasing is the increase in students gaining top grades. A Level successes include: • Bleu Samms who received A* English Literature, A* Psychology and A* Sociology. Bleu has accepted a place at Cambridge University to study Psychology and Behavioural Science.
• Oliver Barlin, who after getting A* in History, A English Language & Literature and A in Sociology has decided to take a gap year and will also be applying for a place at Cambridge.
• De’Vonai Dwyer achieved A* Mathematics, B in Biology, B in Chemistry, C in Physics, plus she took an AS in Mathematics (Further) and got an A. De’Vonai is off to Sussex University to study Medical Neuro Science.
BTEC successes include Laura Smith, who received the overall National BTEC Award for Travel & Tourism. Teacher Donna Hollick commented, “I’m so proud of Laura and everything she’s achieved. It was a difficult category but her outstanding work really shone through”. Samekah Howard was on a ‘mix and match’ programme, where she combined BTECs and A Levels. In BTEC Computing she gained a triple Distinction* and a C in A Level Computer Science. She now has an unconditional place at Bath University to study Computer Science. Steve Gooch continued, “This has been yet another fantastic year at Coulsdon College; I couldn’t be more pleased with this year’s results. Staff and students have worked very hard and students have achieved the results which will act as their springboard to a successful future.” The College has a limited number of places available on some courses.
