Reduced funding - budget cuts - spending reviews - whatever it is called matters little - the outcome is the same. Someone, somewhere, will be trying to achieve as much or more with limited resources. Such short term measures are now commonplace and will probably be remembered as a mark of our times. Tandridge, by contrast, is home to a long term initiative - the Tandridge Community Fund. It is forward looking, optimistic and aims to support and encourage local community and voluntary groups. This charitable trust inspires giving in Tandridge through donations and legacies, creating a permanent source of funding. It'll make a real difference to the well-being of local families, our friends and neighbours. As interest accumulates it will be awarded in grants to support projects in our area. One project soon to benefit is a small playgroup. One founding member recently explained: "It would really help if there were a few other people out there who could join our small panel and use their skills and expertise to help build the fund. We meet monthly on a Wednesday evening." If you have experience of administration, marketing, publicity, possess business know-how or simply have a genuine interest in supporting the community please consider giving your time to an optimistic project focused on the future.
