Marden Park in Woldingham has areas accessible to the public although part of it, Woldingham School, is obviously out of bounds. It is delightful to wander through the fields and woods of the Park. You are rewarded with stunning views in this beautiful and peaceful area. Park at Woldingham Station, or at the nearby public car park in Woldingham Road, or in Church Road. From the latter road cross the railway bridge then proceed south to the Great Church Wood Nature Reserve. Extend the walk by crossing Gangers Hill to the Woldingham Nature Reserve and Hanging Wood Nature Reserve. When returning home take the footpath at the rear of Woldingham School that leads past Marden Park Farm, then cross over the railway bridge and join Church Road. The mileage can be varied, but six miles is probably the maximum described here. You can extend your walk to Marden Park from Manor Park in Whyteleafe, near Burntwood Lane. Enter the pedestrian walkway of Wapses Lodge roundabout and take the exit for Woldingham Road. Before the viaduct, walk to the driveway that leads to Woldingham School, but take the left turning to Marden Park Farm. This will add a further two miles to your walk in the Park. Refreshments are available in Knight's Garden Centre in Woldingham Road. |
