This month we feature Caterham resident, Beth Wood who is the Artistic Director at The Arc in Caterham-on-the-Hill. Birthplace: Dulwich. Marital Status: Married. Children: One 20 year-old daughter Jess. Cars: No (I have glaucoma so am not able to drive). Pets: I have the tropical fish at The Arc! Childhood hero: Nelson Mandela – he was my introduction to politics. Favourite Food & Drink: Vegetarian curries and red wine. Likes: Kneehigh Theatre Company, Thornton’s chocolates, fairness, community spirit, the sea and working at The Arc. Pastimes: Theatre, history and archaeology, stargazing. Dislikes: Reality TV, oneupmanship and banana yoghurt. Favourite TV show: Stargazing Live. Favourite book: ‘Perfume’ by Patrick Suskind. Favourite holiday destination: Egypt. Where would you most like to live? London or Barcelona. Favourite song of all time: ‘Sometimes’ written by Chris Chambers for our Christmas show – I still wake up singing it. Who would you most like to throw a custard pie at? My manager Alex; I love him dearly but it would be fun! Biggest influence on your life: My dad. Proudest moment: I am massively proud of my daughter Jess who has volunteered in both Peru and Ghana. Most embarrassing moment: Jess says it’s when I go on bungee-rides! Who would you most like to meet? Stephen Hawking – so amazing. If you won the Lottery jackpot, how would you spend it? I would develop Phase 2 in The Arc to make a 250 seater theatre using wizzy tech to make it totally accessible. |
