Prospero Theatre, which took two shows to Edinburgh last year, both of which got four and five star reviews, is looking for new members.
On April 24th Prospero start working on their new show (not yet titled) which will be performed in November. It’s an exciting project based on the theme of Courage and how it changes our perception. The show will be devised around a structured framework and some scripted text.
Director Beth Wood explained: ‘It’s early days but there are hints of Bowie’s Labyrinth and Stoppard’s Arcadia. We expect it to incorporate dark comedy, original music and physical theatre.’
‘We work as a community company with a mixture of ages, abilities and levels of experience. Several company members have worked professionally but it is very much an ensemble. Our ethos is to produce inclusive work of the highest possible standard. Within the rehearsal process is incorporated training in devising, characterisation, impro, physical work and voice. You don’t need any previous experience – just buckets of enthusiasm and commitment.’
Rehearsals are on Monday evenings 7.15-9.30 at the British Legion in Caterham, then twice-weekly from mid-September.
