Snuggles our bunny mascot welcomed nearly five hundred runners to the tenth annual Rotary Easter Bunny runs at Queens Park on Sunday. Every finisher in the Easter Bunny 1K Fun Run and 5K Race organised, once again, by Caterham Rotary Club received and Easter egg. The glorious sunshine set the scene for some good times and lazing around on the Park afterwards. Congratulations to the best-dressed bunnies and thank you to everyone who entered into the fun of dressing up. First home in the 1k, which is not a race, was, Estee Norman, followed by Harry Thomas. Congratulations to the fastest runners in the 5k , first was Patrick Canavan in 16 minutes 56 seconds, a new course record, followed by Harley Norman and Alix Ramsier who both beat the old record. Diana Norman was the first lady home in fourth with a time of 19 minutes 21 seconds. The last to complete the 5k had enjoyed their morning outing in the sun and came in after an hour or so. Congratulations to the best dressed bunnies who were awarded larger Easter eggs: they were Isaac Bickley, Lilia Sparks, Isla Smith, Joanna Shaw, Rosie Skeet and Michelle Longhurst. Fastest and best dressed prizes were sponsored by the Vet on the Hill. Emily Watson of Bunny Hop Dance and Fitness lead the warm up and a large group of her class members ran the 5k course raising lots of sponsorship for Kent Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance. Another group of runners, all in blue T-shirts, were raising funds for the Breck Foundation. Our starter was the Chair of Tandridge District Council, Councilor Pat Cannon who also presented the prizes. The MC was Tony Nash and the 1 st St Mary’s Scouts provided refreshments. North Downs Hospital gave out some more Easter eggs and, more seriously, offered free blood pressure checks.
