The second #teamelsie Rainbow Run took place at Caterham School on Sunday 21st May. There were 222 that took part in the 2k and 5k fun run to raise money for Shooting Star Chase Hospice who are a hospice that specialise in caring for disabled babies and children with life limiting conditions who aren’t expected to live passed their 18th birthday.
It was a real family event with people running the 5k course but also parents and grandparents pushing children around the 2k route in pushchairs. Lots of people chose to dress up in bright colours and wigs and many took advantage of the free rainbow facepaint to get in the spirit of things. There was also a stall selling all things rainbow themed. All this helped the event raise £2000 for the hospice
The event was in memory of Elsie Poole who received care from the hospice before she sadly died in January 2013. The family are aiming to raise £161,000 which is how much it costs the hospice to provide care a week. Theyre therefore raising ‘A Week for Elsie’.
