Pastimes: Writing, riding my motor cycle, target rifle shooting and stewarding at the East Surrey Museum.
Likes: The jovial company of friends. Playing my piano accordion.
Dislikes: Most pop music; wriggling politicians who cannot give a straight answer.

Proudest moment: Winning the Surrey County Essay Competition for school children in 1946 - subject: "The British Empire". Prize: One Guinea.
Most embarrassing moment: I asked a lady when her baby was due and she was not even pregnant!
