Models on the catwalk at the Charity Fashion Show. Fashionistas turned out in droves for a charity catwalk fashion show at Caterham School on Thursday 3rd April, raising money for St Catherine’s Hospice. Attendees feasted their eyes on top brand and boutique clothes, bags and jewellery, modelled by local people, before getting the chance to buy their favourite outfits and accessories at discounts of up to 60 per cent. The fashion show, organised by Tandridge Friends of St Catherine's, was one of the group's largest fundraising events, selling over 180 tickets, and helped mark five years since St Catherine’s became the main hospice care provider in the Tandridge area. Since 2009 the hospice has provided care and support to terminally ill local residents and their families completely free of charge, in their homes, in the Day Hospice in Foxon Lane, Caterham and at the in-patient unit in Crawley. Sue Mackenzie, from Tandridge Friends, said: “We're delighted with the success of this year's fashion show. Local fashion lovers really enjoyed the catwalk and queued up to bag a bargain afterwards. We're predicting around £2,500 raised for the hospice with this one event. “To keep giving care and support to local people with a terminal illness, and their families, St Catherine's has to raise over £5.5 million every year. Donating time or money and coming to events like the fashion show make a huge difference to local people”. Matthew Cornish, Corporate & Community Fundraising Manager at St Catherine's, said: "Thank you very much to Tandridge Friends for organising this fantastic event. As well as being thoroughly enjoyed by all, it has helped to raise vital funds that St Catherine's can use to continue providing hospice care for local people with a terminal illness." |
