Officers from East Surrey CID are appealing for information following the theft of scaffolding from a business premises in Caterham. The theft occurred overnight between Friday, 11 April and Saturday, 12 April from the company on War Coppice Road. Around £10,000 worth of scaffolding was taken during the break-in and around £1,000 worth of damage was caused to gates and fences at the property. Officers are particularly keen to trace a white transit van which had twin rear wheels and a low suspension which was seen in suspicious circumstances near the address around the time of the offence. Investigating officer PC Andy Bright, said: "At this stage in the investigation I need to speak with the occupants of the white van seen in the area around the time of the break-in. I would ask If you are the driver of this vehicle, saw the vehicle in the area or have information on the owner of the van, then please contact me with information. "I believe the offenders will work in the scaffolding business and will be using the stolen property for work rather than selling it on for scrap therefore we are also making a number of enquiries with others in this occupation. "If you can assist with the investigation please contact me with information or if you would prefer to remain anonymous call the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.” Anyone who can help officers with this investigation is urged to contact them on 101 quoting reference 45140029149.
