An estimated four to five thousand people attended the Caterham Festival Street Party in the High Street, Caterham last Sunday, 1st June. The event was a colourful spectacle, with stalls lining the sides of the road and plenty of fun activities for everyone to enjoy. New attractions this year included a badminton net, apple bobbing and a hilarious foam fight at the end of the day. Afterwards, Caterham Festival Chairman, Andy Parr said: “I think this year's Street Party was the best ever! The foam fight at the end was the best messy idea we have ever had. Everyone was laughing their heads off!” An aerial view of the High Street during the Street Party. Photo by Jon Harrison, www.localeventphotos.co.uk
Two very popular stalls were the candy floss stall run by Caterham Round Table and the Pimms stall run by Caterham Rotary Club. Students and teachers from Vivace Pianos were playing a piano in the street and people were able to have a go at playing the harp, on one of the three harps brought to the Street Party by Pilgrim Harps. Throughout the afternoon the crowd was entertained by a superb line-up of bands, with rock band Stolen ID being the first to perform and getting everyone into the party mood. Eight volunteers from 'Team Caterham' attended the event in their bright pink T-shirts to support the Festival team. Circus tricks at the Street Party.
