2013 Bake-off HQ The Great Festival Bake-Off hopes to encourage families to bake together and add a spoonful of friendly competition between the bakers. Once again the Caterham Food Festival will host the Great Caterham Bake Off. Last year this event raised nearly £300 and won the Festival Newcomer Award. This year it returns proudly sponsored by local accounting company Champ Consultants. The competition has four categories for adult family bakers; a large cake, 12 small cakes, 6 biscuits and a savoury section. Under 18s can enter the competition in their own right with their own category. Entry fees are £2 per category. This year the judges will be joined by professional cake maker Sue Bridgeman. The judges won’t just be looking for taste and appearance but also texture and quality of the bake. Festival director and Chief Judge Andy Parr said ‘It is a heavy burden to eat all that cake and biscuits but somebody has to do it. In all seriousness the quality of the entries was exceptional and we look forward to finding the towns greatest bakers once more.’ So flour your loaf tins, prime your piping bags and get those aprons on Ready, Steady, BAKE! The bake off will take place on Sunday the 8th June with entries being accepted from 10am to 1pm at the Bake-Off stall. Entry forms can be downloaded from the Festival website- www.caterhamfestival.org. 2013 Bake-off HQ
