Witness appeal after hammer thrown through window in Caterham |

East Surrey CID is appealing for information following an incident outside The Old Surrey Hounds Pub in Caterham last night (Wednesday, 14 May). The incident occurred at around 6.30pm when a man was seen to throw a hammer through the window of the pub on The Square. A short time later a man was arrested in connection with the offence. Investigating officer Dave Evans, said: "If you witnessed the incident or the events surrounding it please contact me as a matter of urgency.” No-one was injured during the incident. The man, who is in his 40s, was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and driving whilst under the influence of alcohol or drugs. He remains in police custody at this time.
