Detectives from East Surrey CID and officers from Tandridge Safer Neighbourhood Team are investigating two reports of sexual assault. The incidents are said to have occurred between 4pm and 4.30pm on Tuesday, 20 May. A 15-year-old schoolgirl was assaulted as she walked down Searchwood Road, Warlingham and a short time later a 20-year-old woman was also assaulted as she walked along Waller Lane, Caterham. On both occasions a blue car with the driver's side window open, approached the victims with the driver touching them inappropriately. It is believed the driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle on each occasion. He has been described as having pale skin, short red hair and wearing a tracksuit. Investigating officer Detective Constable Karen Scholey, said: "We are carrying out a number of enquiries in the local area including house-to-house and CCTV to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incidents. "We believe both incidents are linked and would urge anyone who believes they may know the person responsible to contact officers with information. "Both roads are popular walking routes and I would appeal to anyone who either saw one of the offences occur or who saw anything suspicious which may connect to share this information with us. "I would appeal to anyone who lives or works in the vicinity of either offence and who has a CCTV camera on their property to make contact by calling 101 as this may provide footage vital to the investigation. "Both victims are being supported by specialist officers at this time and this will continue throughout the investigation.” Tandridge Neighbourhood Sergeant Terry Hardie, said: "Officers from the Tandridge Safer Neighbourhood Team will be in the area carrying out reassurance patrols and would urge anyone with concerns to either approach them in person or call 101 for advice. "The team will also be visiting schools in the area and providing information on personal safety and stranger danger. "Incidents of this nature are taken extremely seriously and we will be working closely with our colleagues in CID on the investigation to find this offender.” Personal safety information can be found by visiting http://www.surrey.police.uk/.
