Dancers jiving on Day 2 of DeFest Last weekend saw crowds descending upon de Stafford School in Burntwood Lane, Caterham, for two days of music and entertainment at the DeFest Music Festival. The event was the first in the Caterham Festival line-up which is taking place until the end of June. Day 1 of DeFest on Saturday 24th May featured local rock bands Sweet Revenge, City of Ashes, Hobo and the Hippies, the Papa Amos Band, the Stone Beats and Heavy on the Strawberries. In addition to the music, there were plenty of other attractions to enjoy including a rodeo ride, go karts and even inflatable donkeys! Day 2 on Sunday 25th May had a rock 'n roll and swing theme, with many of the crowd dressed in colourful 40s and 50s costume to go with the jive dancing taking place all afternoon. Local jazz singer Jenny Green was first to take to the stage, followed by Greggi G, the Firetones, Vintage and Elvis Presley tribute act, Danny Fisher. In addition to the music, the crowd was entertained by a display by Totally Pole Fitness and jive dancing by Surrey Jive and Swing Pop. Although the weekend got of to a damp start, by Sunday the crowds were enjoying lovely sunshine and were able to relax on the field with picnics and drinks from the Beer Tent while listening to the music.
