On Saturday 12th July, as part of celebrations to mark 40 years of providing patient care, North Downs Hospital hosted a charity fun day in aid of the Emily Ash Trust, raising £276. The sun shone down on the children of St. Johns Primary School as they performed a colourful dance on a maypole donated by Caterham Valley Parish Council, before enjoying home-made toffee apples. Ridge Radio provided the music whilst visitors enjoyed Pimms supplied by the Caterham Rotary Club, a hog roast cooked up by Michael Lord Butchers and Candy Floss by Fluffy Fun. Delicious, home-baked cakes had been made by both staff and patients for the cake stall and the enthusiasts from Caterham and Lotus Seven Car club provided photo opportunities in their prized possessions. Dedicated staff from North Downs Hospital were on hand to monitor blood pressure and show budding young surgeons how to remove imaginary body parts from a giant operation game. Children and adults alike were also able to enjoy playing in the laser castle and have their faces painted as well as apple bobbing and bat-the-rat. North Downs Hospital looks forward to providing the local community with excellent patient care for the next 40 years!
