The Council has appointed Sevenoaks District Council to manage its off street parking enforcement service within the district. The new contract was awarded following a tender process and will commence on 1st September and run for two years.
At present, Tandridge District Council owns and manages around 700 car parking spaces across 14 car parks in Oxted, Hurst Green, Caterham, Warlingham, Woldingham and Lingfield.
Sevenoaks District Council has over 20 years’ experience of civil parking enforcement with highly trained staff. The new contract will allow for greater flexibility so the level of enforcement can be adjusted up or down as operational requirements dictate. On street parking enforcement in Tandridge will continue to be carried out by Reigate and Banstead District Council on behalf of Surrey County Council as the Highways Authority.
In Oxted, improved parking enforcement will help support the delivery of additional parking capacity which is part of the ambitious RegenOxted programme that will also see the removal of the Oxted gasholder, an Urban Redesign project for Station Road East and West and the creation of a Business Hub.
A new ticketless barrier system for the Council’s Ellice Road car park in Oxted will be introduced in October.
Councillor Nick Childs, Chairman of the Community Services Committee, said: “This new contract will encourage responsible, considerate, safe and legal parking through fair, consistent and proportionate parking enforcement and appeals administration. It will also help support the introduction of our new ticketless parking for Ellice Road car park in Oxted which will be in place by mid-October providing quick, easy and convenient parking to help transform the town.” |
