It has been a whirlwind rugby adventure for Caterham resident, Kay Wilson, who made her England U20 debut against France in March last year. Since playing for the Old Cats Rugby Club in Caterham, Kay has progressed through the ranks and now has six England caps to her credit. During the RBS Six Nations Tournament this year she scored trys against Wales at Twickenham and against France in Paris. Kay attended St John's Junior School in Caterham and St Bede's Secondary School in Redhill. She then worked as a gap year student at Oakhyrst Grange School in Caterham and is now reading for a BSc(Hons) in Sport Development at the University of Wales Institute in Cardiff. Kay now plays for Bristol as well as her university. Kay has had some memorable moments in front of the TV cameras, in particular when she touched down for England against Wales at Twickenham and in the Hong Kong Sevens Final when her 75 metres sprint to the try line was the pivotal moment in England's victory over favourites Australia by 15 points to 10. In 2010 Caterham Rotary Club awarded Kay their Sporting Excellence Award and a cheque for £250. Kay recalled her U20 debt against France with special pleasure. She said: "Pulling on an England shirt was wonderful and there was a massive crowd!" |
