Leafe have only been able to play three matches in the last month with a number of fixtures postponed due to waterlogged or frozen pitches. In their first game of 2013, Leafe travelled to Holmesdale in the Kent Premier League and secured a convincing 5-0 win, with five different goal scorers finding the net. Leafe then travelled to Welling to play Erith & Belvedere in the Kent League Cup. The home team emerged narrow 1-0 victors in a closely fought game, with the second leg being played at Church Road on Tuesday 29th January, with all still to play for. By the time you read this the match will have been played and the result can be viewed at our website, www.theleafe.co.uk The impressive unbeaten league run was then stretched to nine games, and four successive victories, in a home fixture against Sevenoaks Town. After Dos Santos opened the scoring on 37 minutes, another strong and committed team performance saw Leafe cruise to a comfortable 3-0 victory. Leafe now sit in third place, keeping the pressure on both Erith teams, just four points behind, but having played three games more. Leafe now face some tough fixtures through to the end of the season, with three matches still to play in the League against the Erith teams, with all of these matches being of vital importance. With the much improved form however, hopes still remain for the possibility of grabbing top spot and promotion back to the Ryman League at the first attempt. Forthcoming home fixtures are against Lordswood on the 9th February and Deal Town on the 2nd March, both 3pm kick-offs at Church Road. |
