Both teams of the Old Boys have continued their fine start to the season.
The first team fought out a 1-1 draw with local rivals RH 123 at Queens Park with our opponents laying seige to our goal in the second half. Some brave defending almost saw a slender 1-0 lead win the game but RH scored with a few minutes left to share the points.
A fine home win against Trinity 3-1 keeps us hot on the heels of League leaders AFC Cubo. A waterlogged White Knobs saw the cup game against St Andrews called off to be replayed.
The 2nd team are still unbeaten in both league and cup with good wins over RH 123 reserves in the cup 8-2. 14th November saw a top of the table clash against Real Holmesdale. When all the other games in the league were called off due to heavy rain, Real Holmesdale managed to come up with a pitch that was playable.
The game turned out to be a spectacle of excellent football from both teams in extreme conditions. At half time the Old Boys were 3-1 up with great goals from Danny Gillam and a surperb solo effort from midfield giving us the 'upper hand'. In the second half Real Holmesdale piled on the pressure and managed to score two more goals. The Old boys also scored two more cracking goals and ran out 5-3 winners. The game ended with the Old Boys sitting on top of the league.
It's still early days but the club is looking in good shape for the rest of the season. If you want to watch some entertaining football on Saturdays our home ground is at White Knobs, Caterham Valley. Kick-off is at 2pm and entrance is free!
