The final month of the season saw 21 fans take part in a sponsored walk to the Easter Monday game at Merstham to raise money for necessary floodlight repairs. A substantial sum was raised and everyone had a great day out, which culminated in a competitive 2-2 draw.
Going into the final fortnight Croydon Athletic and Folkestone were vying for the title and Whyteleafe had their chance to play a part in deciding the winners. Leafe had to visit Folkestone on a Tuesday evening, before entertaining Croydon at home the following Saturday, with the top two then facing each other in the final week. Folkestone had only lost one league game at home all season so hopes weren't high, but Whyteleafe had proved previously in the season when beating Croydon away, that on their day they are a force to be reckoned with. And so it proved to be again, as a second half goal by top scorer Watson saw Leafe to a deserved 1-0 win.
Next up Croydon at home, and a chance to dent their local rivals' chances as well. This time though, it was not to be and in a disappointing game, a solid but unspectacular Croydon side took a 2-0 victory, to avenge our earlier season win at The Crem. This left Croydon needing a draw away to Folkestone to secure the title, which they duly achieved in front of the division's biggest crowd of the season - 2234.
The season's final fixture saw Leafe fans travel to Horsham in fancy dress. But the party mood was dented as tenman Leafe crashed to a 4-0 defeat. A result that left us in 15th position with 51 points, and the encouragement that if the team stays together there could be better to come next time.
