The last month has seen a further decimation of the fixture list due to continuing bad weather. We may have lost the snow but hard frosts alternating with heavy rains have since become the order of the day. All this has meant the club has only managed to play two games in four weeks. The first of those was a league game on the New Year's Day bank holiday when Leafe travelled to play Corinthian-Casuals. It was an important game with both sides struggling at the wrong end of the table and Leafe started as though they meant business with Agyei opening the scoring early on. However, as has been their wont recently, the defence then went missing and the Casuals scored three goals in very quick time to go in 3-1 up at half-time. Leafe rallied straight after the break and pulled a goal back through Gunner but alas the rally could not be sustained and the game was lost 3-2. A few weeks later we played Woking in a much rearranged Surrey Cup 2nd round tie and a very impressive performance saw the Leafe beat their Conference South opponents by 3-1, a scoreline that certainly did not flatter the home side who put in one of their best performances of the season. Goals from Brown and then Stripp gave Leafe a 2-0 half-time lead. Woking rallied briefly in the second half and pulled one goal back, but their rally quickly faded and O'Flaherty scored to restore the two goal lead, leaving Leafe to play out time for a comfortable win. February will see home games against Walton and Hersham (5th), Godalming (8th), Fleet (15th), Worthing (18th) and Dulwich Hamlet (22nd).
